The promise of privacy in a pristine place.
South Caicos, one of the smallest islands in the Turks & Caicos archipelago, is a quiet tranquil place whose secluded sandy beaches, coral reefs, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and other exceptional natural riches truly deliver all you have come to expect of the tropical Caribbean, and more. The 8.5-square-mile island, located south of the Bahamas and 75 minutes from Miami, offers the friendly welcome of 1,200 local people and uncommon opportunities for fishing, snorkeling, diving, beachcombing, hiking, birding, and other activities. Here you can watch whales, walk through herds of wild horses and flocks of flamingos, explore old buildings and quaint stone walls in historic Cockburn Harbour, enjoy the cuisine in tiny restaurants--or just relax poolside at your own villa getaway.
The Turks & Caicos Islands have some of the best tropical beaches and the third-largest coral reef system in the world. The 40 islands and their people are quite diverse—from the main tourist center of Providenciales (Provo) to quiet and tranquil islands like South Caicos to the capital island of Grand Turk. Once a hideout for infamous pirates, the Turks & Caicos were first settled in the 17th century by people from Bermuda. Since 1976 they have been a self-governing British overseas territory.
